For the third week of Advent we look at the character of Zechariah, often overlooked in the Christmas story. His words echo the desire for peace, and as Christmas takes our attention to Bethlehem 2000 years ago, we lament the lack of peace in Bethlehem today.

As we enter the second week of advent we focus on the character of Mary and the theme of Joy, celebrating the faith of the woman who caught an understanding of God’s radically world-turning promise.

As we begin to turn our hearts and minds towards Christmas in this season of advent, we take this week the theme of ‘Hope’ and the character of John the Baptist – asking what it might mean to ‘prepare the way of the Lord’ in this season.

When Moses meets God on holy ground at the burning bush, Moses learns God’s holy name – I AM – a name that God says is a memorial for the generations. This Remembrance Sunday we think of memorials for the generations in a different sense, and reflect on the importance of remembering *well*
