8th October 2022: Scalan walk
The October walk is a change to the one advertised in the Kirk News.
Route: The walk to Scalan is a shorter walk than normal, with a more physical option added-on to Tom Trumper. The local Ranger will take us on a guided tour of the Scanlan Mills (and seminary) which gives a fascinating glimpse of our rural past.

As we worship this week, we find in the appointed readings for the week the prophet Jeremiah weeping for the poor and hungry of his day; while the letter of 1 Timothy speaks of praying for kings and for leaders. Doesn’t it seem like both themes have huge relevance for today?

As we worship this week, we find Jesus coming into conflict withthe religious leaders for healing on the Sabbath. In turn, we are reminded of the healing importance of the Sabbath, and hear again the invitation of Jesus: ‘Be free!’
