Christian Aid Middle East appeal for Gaza conflict

Throughout advent we supported Christian Aid’s appeal for their aid work in the Middle East amidst the conflict in Gaza. The combined totals of the retiring offerings totalled £766.85, with the added 25% of GiftAid donations meaning that the true total will be even more.
Thank you to everyone who so generously donated, it will provide lifesaving aid for a part of the world that continues to be in our prayers as we hope for an end to violence and a just peace.

Development of first Sundays of month service

To continue building and developing these services Andrew is looking for people who might be willing to take part in a couple of ways:

  1. During ‘wondering’ time: act as a discussion host for the table
  2. Lead the prayer for others

If you’d be interested please let Andrew know (or drop a message to akimmitt@churchofscotland.org.uk or 0775230462).

Glebe project lunch

Thank you to all who have RSVP’d to join the Glebe project lunch happening today. The lovely news is that we’ll likely have more than plenty, so please consider your very warm welcome to join us today after the service at Aberlour even if you haven’t RSVP’d or had much to do with the glebe so far and simply want to find out more – you’ll be among friends and are very welcome!

Joint service next week February 4th

The service next week is the more relaxed first-Sunday-of-the-month style and is joint at Aberlour at 11.15am.

Readings next week

At the joint service the Godly Play story will be of Elijah. If you want a head start on wondering, try 1 Kings 16-19, 2 Kings 2

Aberlour Flower Rota

We are so appreciative of those who take part in the flower rota at Aberlour, ensuring that we have beautiful flowers each week. There is a new calendar for 2024 with spaces for each Sunday. If you’d like to provide flowers for a Sunday, you can add your name to the rota on the table in the church.

Moray FoodPlus

We continue to support Moray FoodPlus through a collection of groceries. All donations of in-date groceries welcomed and very much appreciated.

Buildings closed 27th December & 3rd January

In light of the recent escalation in Covid-19 restrictions due to happen immediately after Christmas, the Kirk Session have taken the decision not to hold worship in person on Sundays the 27th of December or 3rd January. A decision about services thereafter will be made nearer the time.

In the meantime, video services will continue to be uploaded to the Church Website, Facebook and YouTube, and paper copies will be available to those who wish them.

We will continue to provide a printed version of the service for those who require it.

In-person worship services

The buildings are now open for in-person services of worship again– in Craigellachie at 9.45am and Aberlour at 11.15am.

Services will be not be ‘normal’: they’ll be shorter, and we won’t be able to sing together; we’ll have to limit numbers according to the capacity of the building; it might be chilly because of having doors and windows open to increase ventilation; we won’t be able to shake hands, hug or kiss; and we’ll be seated 2metres away from other households; there’ll be hand gel, and face-coverings, and one-way systems – but it will be worship in-person all the same. Not everyone will feel comfortable with this, and I can assure you that I’ll be continuing online digital services at http://aberlour.video/services for everyone to access. These digital services will be as close to identical to the in-person services as is possible.

If you wish to come in person, you must ‘book’ a place. This ensures that we keep to a safe capacity for each building as well as giving us ‘track and trace’ details in the event that any potential Covid-19 transmission might be detected.
