Start point: Travelling West from Aberlour on the A95, turn right after Ballindalloch petrol / shop. Down B9137 to Cragganmore. After 1km park at public car park at old station.

Route: The route follows Speyside Way to Blacksboat, wide forest tracks in forest, and back to Cragganmore along side of road. and paths (some may be moist and soft) past the Trig pillar (view over Moray Firth) and through several old quarries. We will stop for tea / coffee in the forest.

Distance: 11.22km (6.9mi), 198m ascent. Shorter option if you wish to start at Blacksboat (let Donald know).

The next Aberlour walking Group walk is on 11th May 2024 to Buckie-Portgordon. It is a circular route, starting and finishing in Cluny Square. Travelling from Fochabers, go left at the signpost to Buckie, and follow the road down to the square.

We spotted 2 seals today, but no doubt there will be more wildlife to spot.

For those interested in Community Gardens, we will stop for some refreshement at the Portgordon Community Garden.

Start point: This is a circular figure-of-eight route which starts from the car park at
the mouth of the Spey in Kingston-on-Spey.

Route: It follows the Moray Coastal Trail and visits some of Moray’s coastal defences from World War Two, including a rifle range. We follow a steep section on sandy paths climbing through woods to Binn Hill; stopping for a tea break to take in some excellent views of the coast. The route returns to the coast following the Moray Coastal trail back to the rifle range, returning to Kingston-on Spey on an inland track.

Distance: 9.5km (6mi), 90m ascent.

The September walk is from Lhanbryde to Mosstodloch.

Route: We walk on paths through the Loch Na Bo estate, passing Kettle Loch, then Blackburn and to the old Orbliston station. A minor road then takes us to Balnacoul Wood, where we follow a path to Mosstodloch.

Distance: The walk is approx. 10km with 80m ascent.

As this is not a circular route, we will be leaving cars at both ends. Flyers will be in the church and on our noticeboards from 20th August. The October walk is a change to the one advertised in the Kirk News.

Route: The walk to Scalan is a shorter walk than normal, with a more physical option added-on to Tom Trumper. The local Ranger will take us on a guided tour of the Scanlan Mills (and seminary) which gives a fascinating glimpse of our rural past.
