As we begin to turn our hearts and minds towards Christmas in this season of advent, we take this week the theme of ‘Hope’ and the character of John the Baptist – asking what it might mean to ‘prepare the way of the Lord’ in this season.

‘There but for the grace of God go I’ – Jesus tells the parable of the Pharisee who thinks he is so much better off than the tax collector: yet again we see that God’s kingdom works very differently to the ways of the world.
